I'm a Canadian and watched alot of Much Music through my teen years. One of the Video Jockeys was a guy named JD Roberts who did alot of the interviews on the US festival DVD. He also is on one of the Carry on the Flame track in Surveillance and possibly Too Much Thinking (Not sure, maybe someone can confirm)
Here's a pic:

Not sure if the guys in the band still keep in touch with him. Just wondering.
JD and the boys in Triumph were friends back then. Perhaps they keep in touch. I remember seing JD interview metal bands on the Pepsi Power Hour on Much Music. JD went from interviewing members of Venom to interviewing presidential candicates in the US. JD was always a cool and knowledgeable interviewer.

Ha, yeah! I saw 'John Roberts' on CNN a couple weeks ago and was like, mom! that guy used to interview rock bands in Canada back in the 80s. She didnt believe me at first but I told her he used to go by JD Roberts and he's actually on a Triumph DVD doing interviews with the band.
Cool dude, it was fun to see him with Triumph!
JD Roberts formative years in Canadian television were with CityTV, a local Toronto tv station which was owned by the CHUM group. CityTV was a very progressive channel (multi-cultural, music and fashion: basically a cosmos of the European and Asian influence on Toronto), that is until CTVGlogemedia (a huge Canadian media conglomerate) acquired the company in 2006/07. CityTV had and still has a cutting edge music program called NewMusic (music interviews and videos); JD was one of the hosts of the NewMusic. I remember seeing JD interviewing a stoned Ozzy Osbourne at the Rock In Rio Festival (1985) on the NewMusic. For some reason, I remember this interview like it was yesterday. As mentioned in another post, JD is a consummate professional: he always does his homework whether is was interviewing Paul McCartney or a presidential candidate.
The NewMusic program existed long before MTV; I actually think that MTV was inspired by the NewMusic format in some form or another. When Much Music (another CHUM channel) saw the light and day, JD was one of the senior Vjs. After CityTv / MuchMusic, JD worked as a news anchor in Canada, before joining CBS News in the US. JD was in line to succeed to Dan Rather, but was overlooked for the job. I believe this prompted his move to CNN; good for him and CNN as he is an excellent journalist.
By the way, JD and Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple Computers and US Festival organizers) were the only people following Triumph before the group took the stage.
