    New Albums

so Whitesnake and Dokken are both coming out with new albums fairly soon...here are a couple tracks off them on youtube...

Whitesnake-Lay Down Your Love which I understand is a cover of Zeps Black Dog...haha

Dokken-Judgement Day/Give Me A Reason, the first is very In My Dreams/Dream Warriors sounding, very melodic, similar guitar tone...ripping solo, sounds like George almost.

These are just a couple of releases coming out sometime soon I haven't been paying close attention really to whats going on other than in the Triumph world.  If anyone knows of other stuff just tac it on in this thread.

Can't you feel the magic, feel it everywhere, Can't you hear the music, there's something in the air, There's a celebration, deep within a song, Celebrate this feeling, you know it can't be wrong

    Re: New Albums

Rush has a live album coming out on tuesday.

My latest purchase is the new album from the band RPWL. I am sure most of you have never heard of them, but they are a really good band. If you enjoyed the 80s post Waters Pink Floyd, you'll really like RPWL. Their new album 'The RPWL Experience' is by far one of the best new releases thus far.

Probably not the best song to try out as a first listen, as it is rather mellow, but here is a link to their version of 'Masters of War'. It's very Floydish. Almost too much so, but don't be fooled, not all of their music sounds so close.

I'm really looking forward to the new Marillion and Pendragon albums. Due out sometime later this year.

The Dokken is pretty cool, I like it. The Whitesnake is a big disappointment, Coverdale really needs to find someone to write some decent tunes. To my ears he's just rehashing his old hits (and some led zep)

The Floyd sound is kind of obvious, especially when you consider they started out as a Floyd tribute band. Ray Wilson(?)'s vocals are very Gilmour-ish but I say, why not?

When you can sound THAT CLOSE to one of the greatest bands EVER, in their best era EVER, you got something promising. That was a very good track, listening to it for a third straight time. Plus the amazing thing? A FUCKING SOLO, who would've thought?

When I first heard the lyrics I realized it was the Bob Dylan song, which was decent, but I actually already prefer this version. But Bob's lyrics still are incredible and amazingly relevant to today:

"Come you masters of war, you that build all the guns
You that build the death planes, you that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls, you that hide behind desks
I just want you to know, I can see through your masks

You that never done nothing, But build to destroy
You play with my world, Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand, And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther, When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old - You lie and deceive
A world war can be won - You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes - And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water - That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers, for the others to fire
Then you set back and watch, when the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion, as young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies, and is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear - That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children - Into the world
For threatening my baby - Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood - That runs in your veins

How much do I know - To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young - You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know - Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never - Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question - Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness - Do you think that it could
I think you will find - When your death takes its toll
All the money you made - Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die - And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket - In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered - Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave - 'Til I'm sure that you're dead"

Thanks for the find Raiders, much obliged sir.

    Re: New Albums

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Luvers!! RPWL are a great band, and have a lot of great music under their belt.

I picked up the latest Rush offering, 'Snakes and Arrows Live' on tuesday. It's a must have for any Rush fan, but not their best live album, that's for sure. Still, it sounds great.

    Re: New Albums

The new Dokken album is great, Don's voice isn't what it used to be, but he makes it work nicely with lots of vocal harmonies.  The guitar sound is very much like Dream Warriors kinda stuff, smooth tone and very melodic.

Point of No Return has a sort of Tooth and Nail feel to it

I heard a song from AC/DC's new album the other day... it sounded like AC/DC always sounds like.

The time has come to face the music again...Back them up against the wall and bring the hammer down...
