I am in discussions with The Boss (aka my wife) on a way for me to do both Sweden and Rocklahoma.
I hope I can pull it off. If I have to pick, I am probably going to go to Sweden, just because it's the first show and the European rock festival experience (done my share of U.S. rock festivals). And I started planning that trip way back in January, AND my promoter source over there can hook me up with some kind of VIP pass.
But Rocklahoma isn't out of the question, even if I go to Sweden. Between early June and mid-July, I may be able to negotiate a win-win deal with the missus. :-)

Well, if I go to Sweden, I'm going solo, so that cuts down on the cost.
Plane fare from Chicago is about $1200; I'm covered on a festival pass from my promoter friend, I reserved hotel several months ago (refundable if I cancel by June 5) at about $150 U.S. for three nights, so I'm figuring $550ish total with taxes, etc. Trains to/from Copenhagen to festival area is about $100 roundtrip. Promoter buddy says lots of free food/beer in the backstage area where I'll have access to, so that'll keep those costs down.
I figured it at about $2K, maybe $2200 all in. Do-able, but no, not cheap and a lot of travel for like 72 hours of actual time in Europe...but still vewwy, vewwy tempting.
I'd really like to do both, but I"d only do the Friday at Rocklahoma. Don't really want to sit in General Admission, but nor do I want to pay $350 for a VIP ticket I'd only use one day. I dunno, maybe I could advertise a "split" with somebody who had no interest in Thurs-Fri and only wanted to go Sat-Sun...whatever. I could also just drive down from home on Friday, spend one night in hotel (no camping for these old bones) and then drive back Sat to minimize cost and disapproval from The Boss.
We'll see how it plays out. :-) But I'd definitely like to be one of the few who can claim they saw BOTH shows this summer. :-)

I dreamed of seeing triumph for years! can i make it down there to see them it's 50/50 chance. be nice if triumph was to offer some kind of meet and greet to promote the event or something else to hype up the event for us fourm members. could make my decision for easier for me!!!!
I hope that there may be a way to get some of the Forum members some opportunity to get a meet and greet.
It is a long way without being noticed, I have thrown some idea's into a hat and hope to get some good feedback from the band.

In todays edition of USA Today, there was a feature on upcoming concerts this summer. One section had festivals. Included was Rocklahoma. In the small capsule, it mentioned the bands playing. Triumph was one of those mentioned. It was very small, but HUGE just the same.
Daleq2k:Curious how many of you that are going have good vip seats or lawn seats. I've seen queensryche 5 times. 2 of the operation mine crime shows I was in the first row then 2nd row through the fan club. But truimph was always my band/first love.Nows my chance to see both granted 1 day apart. I would only go now to see our boys perform and Ill have a lawn ticket bummer.

Me and my buddy are going VIP. We're from Ottawa, Canada and we are going for the whole weekend. You can't bring all the camping gear when flying, so we figured out that it would be easier to just go VIP and have all food and beer included. This way were only bringing a tent and some clothes and were ready to rock !!!! We are camping in the GA camp sites, the VIP camp sites were all booked. In VIP concert area, we'll be closer to the stage and there's seating (no need to bring chairs in the luggage). Just makes sense for people flying...
We should plan something to meet the members of the forum and hopefully the band.(But i think someone is working on that !) As we get closer, we could post something here about meeting everybody. For example, it could be at someone's campsite, or near the main entrance of the festival etc....
It's mid-may already, i still can't believe what will happen July 11th !!!!!!
No campgrounds here - staying in air conditioned hotel comfort in Tulsa for the weekend. Hope Tulsa has some night life to get the party started Thursday night.

My goal is to be @ the campgrounds sometime Thursday and if Triumph fans need a place so they don't have to drive is my main goal ( the NO DUI zone).
