    Aren't we all...

That was a GREAT interview... I like the part especially:

Ryan: A song like “Rock You Down” was about as far away from Triumph as you could have gotten.
Gil: I hate that song. In my list of most hated songs that one’s definitely in the top 10.

Finally someone else who says that song sucks...

as sucky as that song is...give the guitar solo some love, its the lone redeeming part of the song that deserves some credit. after all, triumph can't possibly make a 100% crap tune could they...naawwww

LOL...I always thought that song sucked too. Kinda surprised to see Gil thought so too. I agree ...It was a great interview.

Well, there are some redeeming songs on that album. I think Progressions of Power let me down a bit more than Surveillance...but it's nice that Gil can say that. Hey, not every song is a #1 hit!!!  But it's Triumph, so I still love their crappy stuff over anyone else's good stuff!!!  :)

I'm a fan of Progressions, but I know I read somewhere that Mike said he hated "I Can Survive" but loved some of the other songs from PoP like Woman In Love and Nature's Child.  I still can't figure out how PoP was such a let down...the whole "Gil taking over" arguement doesn't make all that much sense, it basically was a shift of Gil singing a song that Rik would on other albums...changing it from Rik doing 5 of 9 to Gil doing 5 of 9...

PoP has some of Rik's best guitar work

Can't you feel the magic, feel it everywhere, Can't you hear the music, there's something in the air, There's a celebration, deep within a song, Celebrate this feeling, you know it can't be wrong

Yes it does and it does feature some of Gil's best vocals, especially the laughing and manic behavior on the end of Tear The Roof Off. But everyone already knows how I feel about POP, especially in detail.

Yes they can and they DID ........ with that song.

The way I see it is Just One Night was not a song they wrote so it was retched because of that, but Rock You Down apparently they DID write. The ONLY redeeming quality about Rock You Down was at the 3:57 mark, when you cannot hear anymore of that noise.

Rock You Down is without a doubt the worst song Triumph has ever written. I get angry when I hear it. It's that bad.

    Re: Latest Gil Moore Interview

I'm probably gunna get bashed badly for this, but I really don't think Rock You Down is too bad of a song. In fact I kinda like the guitar riff and the solo is great. I don't think it is the worse song they have ever written. It's actually my 3rd favourite song from Surveillance, after Headed For Nowhere and Long Time Gone. Now bash away, lol.

It's all opinion my friend.  I can't bash you for your opinion.  I just personally hate that song with a passion.  If you enjoy it. more power to you my man. Yes

    Re: Latest Gil Moore Interview

Ah, yes, Rock You Down--the song that broke Triumph's back. That was the one where the day before Surveillance was to go to MCA for release, Gil re-wrote Rik's original lyrics and took over the vocal.

    Didn't make

Rik happy, obviously. He didn't know it had happened until the album was officially released.

BTW, I agree with "cool guitar parts" but think it is a pretty awful song overall.

It is a good song...But when all the voices come in it goes down down down...Great guitar rifs in the song.....
