okay, since either no one knows the answer or just...forgot to make a post, he said that he thought the first song that all three of them sat down and started writing was "What's Another Day of Rock and Roll"
sooo, I'm excited about the possibility of the friendship/reunion between the boys!!
Rik's gonna have to break out the spandex again LOL!, I actually remember him saying something about that in an interview posted on his website, his daughter I think wore them in a play lol and he said he bragged to someone that he could fit into those back in the day or something to that extent
As I sit here on an icy Canadian morning, I've got Thunder 7 blasting.
So I thought it would be interesting for us fans to post things that we think maybe other board members don't know about the Rock 'n Roll Machine.
My 1st contribution:
According to a mid-summer 1984 magazine I read (still have it, Music Express), when Triumph was recording Thunder 7, they planned on calling the album Turn of the Wheel (the Time theme and of course, T7 the cover has the man in the wheel).
I don't think I ever relayed that bit of trivia on here. Anyone else got anything to say?
BTW, I'd just like to say this is a great board (and no I'm not drinking and getting slobbery & emotional haha). We are small but mighty!!

T-Dawg no worries, I never drink but I get emotional sometimes haha, I do agree that this is an awesome board!
I think I have shared most of my Triumph trivia in the other thread that was created a long time ago
I also worked in a trivia question about the working title for Thunder 7 in this prior thread (a few posts into the thread).....
http://triumphmusic.com/forums/thread/2738.aspx
I remember reading a magazine interview with Gil prior to T7 being released, and the working title and the reason it was scrapped was mentioned. For some odd reason, that little piece of info stuck with me for years. I wonder if the mag that I had seen at the newsstand was the same one that you have?
Okay, here's a little piece of trivia in conjunction with one of my own Triumph moments.
I went and saw Pink Floyd's movie The Wall the year it was released. Great piece of film, but... depressing!!! So afterward, I went home and put on Allied Forces as a mood lifter... which worked really well. :)
Sometime later, after the release of Never Surrender, there was an interview with Rik in some magazine. He was talking about songs on the then new album, and mentioned that 'Writing on the Wall' was sort of a rebuttal against PF's The Wall. He said he felt they (Roger Waters, actually) had a very depressing, grim view of the whole thing, and wanted to offer the other side of the coin, or something to that effect. I thought that was really hilarious in light of the fact that T's music had been my antedote for the after effects of that movie!
Hey BPBri, that is very true. Triumph did the first ever Coast to Coast album release in Canada for NS and Rik said the same thing then. The Wall was a GREAT movie and obviously Rik is not a downer kinda guy. It stuck with me as well, not so much because of the Wall reference so much as it was the first national album release "party" on radio where they played the whole album and took calls. That's 2 firsts by those trendsetters "Triumph". First to take to TV to promote their album/show and first to do a national album release on radio!

Yep, those dudes have been around forever. Anyone remember Radar Love?
Also, 'When the Lady Smiles' was a great tune back in the 80's-- great video, too.
No clue on Rik's teaching... but after someone has answered that, how about this one:
Aside from Rocky Mt. Way, Love Hurts, or anything off TSOK, name another song Triumph recorded that was done by another band first. (Caution: Trick question! ;))
Alright, the answer. It will seem so blindingly apparent now. :)
Blinding Light Show was written and performed (but never recorded, AFAIK) by Act III before it became a Triumph tune.
Now, info on Rik's pre T prog trio is pretty scarce... I could be in error that they ever played it live... but to the best of my recollection that is what Rik said in an interview I read at one point. I do know the other two writers credited on the song are the bassist and drummer from Act III, that's why it is fair to say this tune was written by another band.
