well...............we don't have any current info at all.......

I personally don't believe it.....I think the writer was piecing things together..

I can tell from watching the rehearsal in Oklahoma, that there was positive interaction between all members.

but who really knows except the three of um.

Brendan doesn't know anything and he said last he heard it was going well, but dad doesn't always tell him everything so I peaked his interest as well haha.  I'm sure we'll figure it out.  And even if things have fallen apart again...at least they got together for a couple shows.  Thats how I'm going to have to look at it.

Well first of all the writer stated that Triumph won a bunch of Juno awards for band of the year.

I never heard of that. I thought Triumph never won a single Juno award until the HOF.

Only Rik won for guitarist of the year I believe.

Plus if Rik is upset about anything why talk to the Ottawa Sun. Would it not be better to send his message on his own site? Letting out little jabs about the band is not they way to go. I find it hard to believe Rik would go to interviewers with criticism after all things were patched up. To me he has better options.

Here's the latest info.  I had a response from the Ottawa Sun columnist:

Yes, he dismissed the idea of a Triumph reunion without ruling it out entirely. Regardless, I was surprised to see his say in today’s Citizen that they were planning a reunion tour next year.
    That is wishful thinking.
    Thanks for reading.

So i went and got the article from the Ottawa Citizen:

    http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/arts/story.html?id=fd92a7b5-66a9-4a80-96d6-8a4ce48b23bc

The interesting part of the Ottawa Citizen article is:

Still, no conversation with Emmett is complete without an update on Triumph, one of the bands that provided the soundtrack to beer-drinking hoser parties in the late '70s and '80s. After being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame last year, the band reunited for two high-profile festival shows over the summer. The first one, at Sweden's biggest rock festival, was especially significant, Emmett says.

I kinda felt a little rusty," he says, "not necessarily in terms of the music because we had a lot of rehearsal. But I felt all the implications of the personal baggage that were kind of being thrown onto a funeral pyre, and we burned it and we would be going to start fresh. So there was a lot of that stuff that made the first one kind of cosmic in its heaviness."

And headbangers around the world will be delighted to hear the wheels are in motion for a full-fledged tour next summer. "We didn't end up hating each other," says Emmett. "It was certainly fun to do the two shows, more of an experiment in terror than a nice relaxed kind of fun thing. I would look forward to doing five or six or seven (shows) and starting to settle in, musically speaking."

So now i'm confused !!!!!  I should go see the "Let it be" performance tomorrow night and try to have a chat with him after the show !!!  But it's pretty expensive, it's like 100$ per ticket....

The one article made it sound like Rik hated doing everything, the second one made it sound like there was pressure on him but they had a good time and got past all the old animosity.

    Confusing indeed.

Isn't a DVD supposed to be forthcoming of the Sweden and Oklahoma shows?  I thought Rik said that in his Oklahoma interview.

Yeah, I think the Sweden Rock Festival folks handle that one.

This is unbelievable. I emailed the Ottawa Sun reporter too, I have my doubts. News reporters seem to be pretty good at making mistakes. They're about as reliable as the weatherman as far as I'm concerned. If this is true, I'm gonna be REALLY pissed I didn't go to Oklahoma. What's the word over at Riks message board!?

That second interview is more like the experience that I had in Oklahoma.

That first guy put all kinds of stories together........

Rik, Gil and Mike know what there friendship means to each other, after years of not having it.

Its hard to believe that after Rik tearing up at the award ceremony because he was with Gil and Mike again, that this would suddenly come about.  Then again...we all thought Brett retired when he gave the speech and cried...he's playing again haha.  Although, I don't see Rik coming back for another team if this is the case...

Heck, just give 'em another award and they'll reconcile again for a couple more shows.

Honestly - does anybody here really care much any more whether or not they reunite?  They did for two shows, some of us got to see it, the rest of us got to Youtube it.  And frankly, those two shows couldn't hold a candle to what they were in their prime.  Maybe it's best they call Sweden and Rocklahoma closure and hang it up.

I don't think I'm really going out on a limb here by saying YES! people care if they reunite or not.  I know I do, I wasn't alive in their prime so my candle is being held to what they are now.  I also think its quite possible for them to improve on those two shows.  Its not like that was their absolute peak performance wise.  If you decided to drum for 2 shows ever 20 years would that be the best you could do?

Also, they were in a festival setting.  If they were to do a tour the light show would be different and they would have more time for a set.

I'd like to know what band that played at Rocklahoma put on a show that could hold a candle to what they were in their prime...25 years old vs 50 years old...hmmm, wonder what would sound better.  Maybe all the bands should break up since they aren't what they were in their prime...

Honestly....are you freakin kidding me?  OMG!  I so care if they reunite!  And are you as good as you were in your prime?  I highly doubt it.  But Triumph, they still did a kick ass job at Rocklahoma.  I would give anything to see them again.  To relive those past memories and make new ones.....priceless!!
