    Re: Triumph/Scorpions Tour 2009

Will NEVER happen but hey, I can dream:

Triumph with Prism, April Wine, Chilliwack and Max Webster featuring Kim Mitchell. Toronto can do 1 or 2 songs too. Throw in a Canadian flag and a keg of Labatt's....ahhhh...I'm in heaven!!

    Cheers

    WickedRocker:

As is scrolled through the notes i thought of April Wine.............cool, but the i remembered Thunder Seven.

Tour with Helix would be great. Brian has had his band out and about including the US...........they are more than ready for a full tour.

I like April Wine and Helix but I dont think that they'll be able to fill the venues it sounds like T is going to want to tour.  They just arent big enough anymore.  I'm pissed that I didnt get tickets to the April Wine/Nazereth/Head East show tonight, but those three bands are in a fricken small venue.  A band such as the Scorpions would be needed to help T out for a while, at least until the word gets out about them.  And then the go into studio and record a new album, and start touring again in 2010...oh, that might just be wishful thinking haha.  Co-headliner with Scorps is the best idea I can think of.

It would be cool to see like an April Wine/Helix/Triumph tour though, just don't think they would sell enough tickets to fill larger venues.  Then again, so much of it has to do with how well the tour is promoted.  We shall see what happens!

    Re: Triumph/Scorpions Tour 2009

I can tell you from a far...........watching the band members meet with many marketing/promoters

during my hotel stay..........there was/is something going on.

I was not privy to any conversations, but watched many meetings that didn't just involve Rocklahoma

    stuff.

So if they follow thru which I can't see why they would not...........next year is going to happen......hopefully

    anyway

I've never understood the hatred for Styx.

They have catchy tunes.  They put on a good show.  They can work a crowd.  Too bad there are only two original members left (well, three if you count the few songs Chuck joins them for).

I saw Styx in June on the bill with Boston.  Boston played VERY solid music, but Styx did better at working the crowd.

Then again, I just want to see Triumph again.

    Re: Triumph/Scorpions Tour 2009

I think Triumph/Scorpions double bill would be great but I don't see the Scorps opening for Triumph. I think it would be a double bill maybe with an opening act, then Triumph, then Scorps playing equal time. Triumph goes on last and the risk is more people leave since the crowd is likely to be more Scorps than Triumph.

Triumph and The Scorpions would be awesome to see.  I'd like to see Zebra be the opener.

Seen Scorpions 3 times, so them lined up with Triumph on tour is doable.

Styx without Dennis - no thanks!!  (Much like Boston without Brad).

agreed, as crazy and controlling as deyoung is, styx without him just doesn't really cut it for me. triumph and april wine would be an amazing show, with or without the big venues. i might actually prefer seeing them in a smaller place, thoose shows tend to be better. if they can get on with the scorpions though that'd be a killer for sure. maybe get krokus back over that would be a show to die for....

    Re: Triumph/Scorpions Tour 2009

Perhaps, for the Canadian leg, have a Canadian theme to it (Triumph with April Wine and/or Helix and/or Kim Mitchell/Max Webster, Honeymoon Suite, etc..).

For the US leg, perhaps Scorps, Styx, etc...

For arena size, I would aim small-medium sized venues.  As an example, in Ottawa, the Civic Centre can accomodate 7-9K depending on configuration.  ScotiaBank Place is simply too big (20K).  But, whatever they do, please, no outdoor festivals.  Nothing beats an indoor show(climate control, controlled lighting, no weather issues, etc..).  I passed on Rocklahoma and the Maiden/Crüe festival this summer, simply because I don't feel like arriving at 8am and have to wait in the rain and mud all day, to finally see the headliner at 11pm.  Arena rock was made to be in arenas!

Can't see The Scorps Opening for Triumph but I could see a Tour Package of The Scorpions,Whitesnake & Triumph Touring Together

A Nice All Canadian Tour Package Thru out Canada could be the following....

    Triumph,Max Webster,Pat Travers,Moxy & Fist

I'm a big Styx fan, but I think they are better off without Dennis. I think Styx without James Young wouldn't be the same, as he kept them a hard rock band, while Dennis wanted to turn them into a pop band. In my opinion James Young IS Styx. I think he has the best taste in music and is the best guitarist/singer the band has had.

Does that mean Triumph is better without Rik!? haha

Gil/Mike kept Triumph as heavy as they were.  Rik's stuff got soft after he left and EoE was heavier.  Just playing devil's advocate is all.  DevilBig Smile
