Ok, so we have about 12 weeks until Rocklahoma.
Is anybody here going to go ?
I am planning to go, there may not be a next time(2009 tour is a what if) If I didn't go and there was no more I could not stop kicking myself.
The guys have agreed to play a show in Oklahoma, the middle of the US. They are not doing it for the money, its for the fans(that would be us).
Would it be cool if there were a bunch of forum members there and throw a 3 day party ?
I went to the US festival for one day, no camping, etc. I didn't enjoy the experience.
anybody have any thoughts.............. ?
Hank
I am going - will be in Tulsa Thursday night, staying for Friday concert only.
Where is everybody staying?
I definitely want to go to Rocklahoma. Whether I get the hall pass to do so is still up in the air, especially if Sweden happens, because I'm already "approved" to make that trip. Seeing the "first" reunion show would be pretty amazing, even if financially a bit more than I'm comfortable spending.
But, Rocklahoma is very tempting because A) I can drive there; and B) Triumph is headlining, which leads me to believe we might get to see some of the old stage effects. Not the full blown show, but I'd think there would at least be some pyro and such.
If I can make it, I'd probably drive down Thursday, spend the night in a hotel (most likely in Tulsa area, as all the hotels in the Pryor area are already booked), see the show Friday and then drive home Saturday.
If you guys and gals were me, and had clearance from the significant other to go to Sweden/spend that cash vs. waiting for Rocklahoma when the boys are headlining, which would you choose if you couldn't do both?
Me and a friend are going. Already have our plane tix, VIP concert tix, car rental and camping spot right on the festival site. If you don't camp there, it's an hour drive or so to Tulsa for hotels. Apparently all hotels close by are all booked. That means you need a designated driver...
We are going for the 4 days. We figured if we're going that far to see TRIUMPH, let's enjoy the whole weekend. And i'm very happy we're doing that, there's AXE, ZEBRA and TESLA so far on sunday that are worth it. And some good ones also on saturday, LYNCH MOB, WARRANT, CINDERELLA....
I like the idea of getting together with people from the forum. As we get closer to the show, we should plan to leave our camping site #'s or even our concert seating #'s posted here so we can all meet and have lot's of american beer (Miller Lite)........
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO !!!!! OKLAHOMA, HERE WE COME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess Queensryche has been added for Sunday night, and the latest rumor is
KIss........... to close the festival out.
Hank.
madmax:Anybody know the rules regarding icechests at Rocklahoma? I'm guessing it'll be a scorcher out there in the Oklahoma plains in the summer.
My understanding is you can bring a ice chest in, but you have to fill inside the grounds........
hrams: I guess Queensryche has been added for Sunday night, and the latest rumor is KIss........... to close the festival out. Hank.
Yeah, the promoters have apparently been after KISS for a long time, but KISS is in Europe thru the end of June with possible dates into early July...so it's as much a logistical problem (and a money problem; KISS is expensive) as anything. If KISS doesn't book anymore Europe dates after the end of June and Rocklahoma can come up with the right guarantee, then it's a possibility.
Queensryche, UFO and Living Colour are supposedly all on for Sunday with that top headliner still TBD.
And still waiting for input on my question awhile back--would you rather go see Triumph in Sweden as No. 2 on the bill (but first show together in 20 years, etc), OR see them as headliner at Rocklahoma?? I am debating about which to do, as my hall pass from the missus is only good for one rock festival this summer. :-) Sweden is very tempting, but VERY expensive...
It appears Queensryche is the main headliner for Sunday night at Rocklahoma. The Rocklahoma site has a release dated today that says Queensryche will headlining Sunday. Here's an excerpt from the release:
Queensryche will be headlining the event Sunday night and will perform an extensive stage show entitled, "Operation Mind Crime" including ritualistic execution, working prostitutes, motorcycle crashes and everything in between. This exclusive show will be the only one to be performed in North America in 2008. "Working with the actors and creating different scenes helps us to really tell the story and draw the audience in," says Geoff Tate, lead vocalist for Queensryche.
So sounds like Kiss is a no go, can't see how they'd be able to strike an elaborate set like the one Queensryche will have and then set up for KISS on same stage in one night.
Hey, does anybody know if there's a way to buy one day VIP tix at Rocklahoma? I am thinking about going but would only be interested in the day Triumph is playing. I would like a good seat rather than GA, but do not want to pay $350 for a ticket I would only use one day.
OC--I'd go to Rocklahoma if I were you. Triumph is headlining, you don't have to pay $1200 or whatever for airfare and you say it's driveable for you. You could get a VIP ticket, see all three days, spend two or three nights in hotel, pay for gas and still come out WAY ahead compared to seeing your dollar shrink in Europe. Plus you could do the whole Rocklahoma thing in probably less time than crossing the pond, going to Sweden and then coming back AND avoid jet lag.
Just my two cents.
