What is the problem with you old people. Ever heard of the expression "stop on the top" The whole festival is today ruined thanks to you and morrons like Saxon, Judas priest, and tons of other oldies, who robbs the festval on all the cash that could be invested in better bands.
yet another band who don't know when to stop. Yet another one hit wonder.
Please cancel SRF go a head with your retierment plans.

To Mike who is canceling his Sweden Rock Fest plans. First off, ask Santa for a dictionary this year. Second, grow up. Third, if not for the "oldies" you so lovingly refer to there would be no inspiration for current bands that you deem so much better. Bands like Triumph, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Saxon, Led Zep, Aerosmith, etc., etc., paved the way for today's bands. You'll be doing us all a favor by staying home. Good idea. Stay home and be ungrateful. Can't stand ignorant comments like yours.

I saw the announcement on Melodicrock and sincerely hoped that it would be Triumph.  This is great news for all Triumph fans and supporters around the world.  Triumph is one of the most gifted rock bands of all time.  I discovered the group in 1985 (Thunder Seven, to this day, still my all-time favourite recording) and have been preaching the good word ever since.  However, I never had the opportunity to see the group live in concert.

I am booking a flight to Arlanda, Sweden and will be purchasing a ticket to the 2008 Sweden Rock Festival.  Triumph and Judas Priest: this is the US Festival all over again.

This is the best gift I could have received this year.  Thank you very much, Rik, Gil and Mike for making the magic happen.

Damn...I've been waiting for this news for years!!  I guess I'm one of the lucky ones here because I had a chance to see them during the Thunder Seven tour in Syracuse, New York.  It was a show I will never forget!  I was totally blown away!  To all my friends of metal/hard rock in Sweden and other countries who have never seen Triumph live...prepare to be blown away!!  Yes...they are THAT DAMN GOOD live!!  Hopefully, they'll do a world tour.  If not...then it looks like I'll be visiting the great country of Sweden for the first time!  By the way...to that assclown Mike who doesn't like Triumph and Judas Priest...stay home then!  You can listen to Back Street Boys, NSYNC, Britny Spears, or whatever crap you listen to.  We don't need a poser like you!  I wish that the show was closer to me but I know that Sweden will be a kick ass place to have the show.  Fight the Good Fight!!

I have mixed feelings. I saw the band in 1981 in El Paso and they were pretty good but only played 65 minutes as the headliner so we left feeling alittle let down. They rocked though! If they play most of their material from the first 4 records they will be great but if their set is made up mostly of their 80's US AOR stuff, it will be a major disappointment. ..... could be great or terrible..... we will see..

Any of you guys who are now thinking of heading for Sweden rock, I recommend it as a terrific festival. The bands get an hour and a half each, the sound is always good, the folk are friendly, the food is superb and the sun tends to shine most days!
As said by the promoters don't fly to Stockholm unless you want to have a LONG train ride to check out the Swedish countryside.
If you have any questions go to the Sweden rock website, and you can either pm the promoters (who are bloody good at answering queries) or log into the english message board as the folk on there are really helpful.
Anyways I am excited......

Their hearts are really into their rock and roll and their words never had to get smutty, haughty or dark.  They are a great light in a world of darkness. and for 25 years they have managed to lift my spirits with their music.  They have taught me to Fight The Good Fight, Hold on to my dreams and never surrender I have learned to hold my head up high and not to worry about being an ordinary (wom)man. This is really fantastic news! I became a Triumph fan back in 1981. Since 1983, I had seen Triumph every time they came to the Chicago/Wisconsin area. I didn`t stop there. I have also seen Rik Emmett each time he has toured her; whether it was HOB or the Raue Center in Crystal Lake. I`m sure that each and every one of you are like me. The music keeps me young. I look forward to a US Tour and will certainly be here waiting in Chicago.
For Mike; Instead of posting nonsensical comments, why don`t you provide a name of a website so others might be able to witness your talents, or lackthereof. If there is some quality, then you may earn the opportunity to gain notoriety. Until then, remember that nothing comes free.

Another comment for Mike; You might consider doing research before making comments toward people in which you refer as "oldies".
When the band broke up , the members continued to produce music by virtue of writing , producing , touring and teaching. Not only that , but it is rather apparrent that it is not about money.
Rik Emmett continues to play venues such as the House of Blues. He has come to the Chicagoland area annually for years. He has broadened his musical expertise immensely by producing blues and jazz, as well as rock and roll. He has also introduced young talent to the industry and is extremely loyal . Check out the band that travels with him and you would realize that he promotes them much more than he does himself. He also is giving back by teaching music at the college level.

Welcome back Triumph. This is fantastic news for a seasoned hard rocker like myself. I've always liked Triumph's music. The old stuff is brilliant, but Edge of Excess from 92 is a gem for me - Boys' Nite Out, please. Hard rock is getting more popular again here in Denmark. Y&T just recently played their first show ever here and on Friday we get Great White. I guess I never can get rid of the shackles of the great 80s :)

This is great news.  I am hoping for a US tour.  I only saw Triumph once, at a Day on the Green Festival in Oakland in 1983, and Triumph promised a Bay Area New Years Eve show.  It didn't happen, but it's still not to late guys!  How about a tour with Zebra.  That would be the best!

I can clearly remember when a friend of mine in highschool had a girlfriend who lived across the street from the Emmett's in Credit Woodlands.  I can remember all the gear that was piled in the garage for gigs by Triumph.  P.A. speakers and lighting rigs and other equipment cases on wheels.  I was so jealous....being a novice player....with little or, no equipment to speak of. Man that was a long time ago.  I hope they have fun. That's what it's all about.

So, I'm checking out Rik's website as I do every week or so and I can't believe what I freakin' see.  TRIUMPH LIVE IN SWEDEN!

This is living proof that if you live a clean life and live long enough, dreams do come true.

If there was ever a concert DVD to buy, this would be it.  The first freakin' Triumph concert in 20 years!

Now, if we can just get them to divert their plane back from Sweden and have it land at DFW, my life would be complete.

Guys, please do a NA tour.

And, to the SRF organizers, I don't know how you did it, but this festival WILL go down in history.  Great job!  You have given hope to all of us diehard Triumph fans.

I  saw Triumph on four tours in the 80's, and was heartbroken when I heard that Rik had left the band. Of all the 80's bands i saw live in N.Y., Triumph always put on the BEST live show. I have seen Rik solo numerous times, and it is great to see him live, but to hear they are doing the Sweden festival is a long time coming dream come true !!!!! I can't afford to fly to Sweden ( owning a house on Long Island is financially draining ), But I would give anything to see a show in the NY area. Good luck Rik, Mike and Gil !!! I am sure the Allied Forces in Europe will give you one hell of an applause !!!!!

I have been a fan of Rick, Gill & Mike, since I first heard their music. I was elated to learn of their re-union & potential live appearances. Although many years have passed & popular music has changed, clean, positive, harmonic rock, is timeless. I have listened to my Triumph library at least once a month, without fail.

I hope that we will be fortunate enough to enjoy thier collective talents, once again.

If & when they tour again in Canada, I will be there!!!!

Triumph is part of the Candian music fabric & part of the soundtrack of my life.

Nice to see the boys back in action, fighting the good fight.  Can't say for sure if I'm gonna hop a plane and head-over, here's hoping you decide to add-on to the one date and do a full world reuinion tour.  This is amazing news indeed, got the chance to see them at the RnR HOF inductions, and was hoping/praying that differences would be put aside to do a show, PRAYERS DO GET ANSWERED!  It's been way too long since the boys got together and jammed, and for those of you asking Rik the rocket to practice ... don't fret (sorry for the pun) he was, is and always will be the Guitar God of melodic prog-rock.

Bob - Denver, Colorado said:

The new century is blessed with great 70/80's acts like Reo Speedwagon, STYX, Journey, and countless others touring and producing new music.  Achieving great accolades, they are working to redefine their craft and are appealing to new, younger, or sometimes the same and larger audiences.

Unfortunately this wave isn't endless with many former bandmates not enjoying the ride as their choices and time have either caught up with them (RIP), or have made it impossible to participate.

Since this time is not infinite and frankly is likely to only last a few (maybe 10) more years, it is refreshing to see Bands no longer taking for granted their former century rifts to reach out to the nearly 2 generations that 'almost' missed their music.

It is great to see Triumph (hopefully this isn't a short lived reunion) take their place in this rebirth, and join their counterparts in Rush (even Gordon Lightfoot is putting his best foot forward), to remind us of Canada's influence in the most popular era of music.

Hope to see you in Denver.

bands...and Triumph puts on one of the best rock concerts you will ever see. Wear ten pairs of socks if you go because they will knock off the first nine pair!
